This year
Happy Trails was able to recognize our volunteers with a new
award program, the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. This
award began in 2003 when President Bush created the President’s
Council on Service and Civic Participation to find ways to
recognize the valuable contributions volunteers are making in
our Nation. The President’s Volunteer Service Award program is
a way to thank and honor volunteers who demonstrate commitment
and inspire others to engage in volunteer service. Happy Trails
is now recognized as a certifying organization. While all of
our volunteers are eligible at one of the levels, we chose the
six volunteers with the most volunteer hours.
The
criteria for a bronze award are young adults who
volunteer 100 to 174 hours and adults 100 to 249 hours. We
awarded 3 bronze awards.
-
Amanda
Fedderson was eligible with 125 hours
-
Becky
Fedderson volunteered 166, and our Saturday morning
volunteer instructor,
-
Terri
Erskine had 165 hours.
The
criteria for a silver award are young adults who
volunteer 175 to 249 hours and adults 250 to 469 hours.
The
criteria for a gold award are young adults who volunteer
250 hours or more, and adults 500 hours or more.
The Award
recipients will receive a personalized certificate of
achievement, a congratulatory letter from the President of the
United States, a congratulatory letter from the President’s
Council on Service and Civic Participation, and an official
President’s Award pin.
We are so
proud of all of our volunteers and honored that they have chosen
Happy Trails to donate their time. This year, our arena
volunteers donated 3721.75 hours!
